A comprehensive guide to placing your first bet on HyperMarkets and navigating the trading process.

Prerequisites

Before placing your first bet, ensure you have:

  • ✅ Web3 wallet connected to HyperEVM

  • ✅ Sufficient HYPE for betting + gas fees

  • ✅ Understanding of the market you're betting on

  • ✅ Awareness of the 10-minute round timing

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Choose a Market

  1. Navigate to the Markets page

  2. Browse available Hyperliquid markets:

    • BTC-USD (Bitcoin)

    • ETH-USD (Ethereum)

    • SOL-USD (Solana)

    • HYPE-USD (Hyperliquid)

    • And more...

  3. Click on a market to view details:

    • Current price

    • Time remaining in round

    • Pool state

    • Current odds

Step 2: Select Your Side

Choose your prediction:

Higher 🟢

  • Price will be higher at resolution

Not Higher 🔴

  • Price will be equal or lower at resolution

Step 3: Enter Bet Amount

Specify how much HYPE to bet.

Considerations:

  • Start small if you're new

  • Larger bets move odds against you

  • Don't bet more than you can afford to lose

Step 4: Confirm Transaction

  1. Click "Buy Outcome Shares"

  2. Wallet popup appears

  3. Review transaction details:

    • Amount: Your bet

    • Gas fee: Usually < $0.01

    • Total: Bet + gas

  4. Approve the transaction

  5. Wait for confirmation (1-2 seconds)

Step 5: Track Your Bet

After placing your bet:

  • You can sell your positions before the round closes

  • You can redeem your earnings after the market resolves

Step 6: Resolution

At the 10:00 mark:

  1. Round can be resolved

  2. On resolution process

  3. Oracle fetches current price

  4. Winners determined (Higher or Not Higher)

  5. Payouts calculated

  6. New round starts immediately

Step 7: Claim Winnings

If you won:

  1. Go to "Portfolio"

  2. Find the correct market

  3. Click "Claim Winnings"

  4. Approve transaction

  5. HYPE sent to your wallet

Understanding the Trading Interface

Pool State

Shows the current distribution of bets between Higher and Not Higher sides.

Current Odds

Displays your potential payout multiplier based on current pool state.

Closes In

Countdown to round closing. No new bets accepted after time expires.

Resolves In

Countdown to round resolving. You can claim your winnings after resolution.

Your Position

Shows your active bets and current returns in the current round.

What Happens After You Bet?

  1. During the Round

    • Your position is locked in the pool

    • You can sell shares to exit early

    • Odds may change as others bet

  2. At Resolution

    • Oracle fetches the current price

    • Winning side is determined

    • Payouts are calculated proportionally

  3. After Resolution

    • Winners can claim their payouts

    • Losers' bets go to the winning pool

    • A new round begins immediately

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change my bet after placing it? You cannot change a bet, but you can sell your outcome shares before the round closes.

What if the price stays exactly the same? If the price is equal at resolution, the "NO" side wins.

How long do I have to claim winnings? There is no time limit. You can claim winnings at any time, even after the market is delisted.

What happens to my bet if I don't claim immediately? Your winnings remain claimable indefinitely. They don't expire or get redistributed.
